Fashion Week has begun and with it comes a new Pokémon GO debut. Find out if Mareanie can be shiny during its first appearance in the game.

Fashion Week is back in Pokémon GO, and not only is Furfrou readily available for Trainers to catch, but there is also a debut to hold everyone's attention in the vent. For the first time, Mareanie and Toxapex are in the mobile game, and that brings up some new questions.
One of the most exciting aspects of Pokémon GO, or the franchise in general, is the chance of catching a shiny when you're out in the wild. But unlike other games, not every Pokémon has a shiny form to catch in GO. This guide will go over the Mareanie debut and whether it can be shiny or not.
Pokémon GO Fashion Week - Can Mareanie Be Shiny?
At the time of this writing, shiny Mareanie does not exist in Pokémon GO. Despite making a debut during Fashion Week, any of the Brutal Star Pokémon that you encounter will only have one color. To get a shiny Mareanie, you'll have to wait for a future event that goes live within GO.
Though it's disappointing when a new addition doesn't have a shiny form, this is par for the course at this point in the cycle. Nearly every Pokémon that debuts, even if they are Legendary, will lack a shiny form. Because of how rare and enticing shinies are in Pokémon GO, they are saved for future events.
With this method, Niantic can drip feed more content to get Trainers moving around and looking for a new rare catch. There is no set timetable, but it could be anywhere around six months before everyone can get their hands on a shiny Mareanie.
To make things clear, this also disqualifies Toxapex from having a shiny form during Fashion Week in Pokémon GO. Even if you take on the Brutal Star Pokémon in raids, there is no chance, but that doesn't mean you can't pursue other shiny catches during the event.
Most Pokémon in GO have a shiny form at this point and we're just waiting for the Pokédex to fill out. In the Fashion event that starts on September 27, only three other Pokémon lack a shiny form. Those include Gothita, Scraggy, and Frillish. Just like Mareanie, these will eventually get their own shiny form, but it won't be this week.
