As the story of Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the late 19th century, you won’t encounter well-known characters like Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, or Ron Weasley.
A few familiar faces from the Harry Potter books made it into Hogwarts Legacy though. Gryffindor House Ghost Nearly Headless Nick, poltergeist Peeves, and The Fat Lady, whose portrait guards the entrance to Gryffindor, have all been spotted in previously released video footage. Professor Cuthbert Binns, who appears only in the books as a teaching ghost, is also included.

What Is Hogwarts Legacy About?
In Hogwarts Legacy, your character is a fifth-year freshman at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. What makes your character special is that they have the unique ability to manipulate powerful ancient magic that is hidden in the wizarding world. It is now up to you to find out what is behind the return of this forgotten magic and who wants to use the magic to destroy the wizarding world.
As the game progresses, you will continually develop your character. You learn magic spells, brew magic potions, grow plants and learn how to deal with various beasts. You can prove your skills in the fight against dark enemies like trolls and goblins. And you will also have to assert yourself against black magic.
On the PlayStation Blog, Narrative Lead Moira Squier hinted that like Harry Potter, your character is sort of a celebrity, to begin with. Celebrity status is partly due to the fact that you start in the fifth year and partly because you have survived something. But she didn’t want to reveal exactly what your character survived.
Who Are the Antagonists in Hogwarts Legacy?
The goblin Ranrok and Victor Rookwood are the two villains in Hogwarts Legacy that have already been officially revealed.
Ranrok is the leader of a goblin rebellion that is brewing during your time at Hogwarts. One of your tasks will be to get to the bottom of the rumors about such an uprising of the goblins together with Professor Eleazar Fig. It is precisely these investigations that have earned Fig an uneasy skepticism from the Ministry of Magic
In the State of Play Gameplay Reveal video, Professor Fig can be heard stating the following about Ranrok: “Opinions differ as to how great a threat he really is”. Then the voice of the player character can be heard explaining: “Ranrok’s loyalists are capable of so much more than people realize”.
Ranrok has allied himself with the dark wizard Victor Rookwood. Due to the surname, a relationship between Victor Rookwood and Augustus Rookwood is possible. Augustus was also a black wizard who was one of Voldemort’s followers.
Moira Squier revealed in the Playstation Blog what goal exactly Ranrok is pursuing. “Ranrok has seen a glimmer of a magic that wizardkind tried to hide – even from themselves – and he wants that power in particular. His worldview is skewed by his hatred of wizards, which makes his alliance with Victor Rookwood particularly tenuous. Once Ranrok gets what he wants, no one will be able to stop him and the wizarding world will be doomed.”
Who Is the Headmaster of Hogwarts in Hogwarts Legacy?
In Hogwarts Legacy, Phineas Nigellus Black is the headmaster of Hogwarts. Phineas Black is no stranger, having appeared as a portrait in Dumbledore’s office in the Harry Potter movies. He is also Sirius Black’s great-great-grandfather.

Matilda Weasley is the Deputy Headmistress in Hogwarts Legacy. She teaches Transfiguration and is considered firm but fair. In Hogwarts Legacy, according to the official tweet, Professor Weasley will help you catch up on schoolwork and instruct you in the Wizard’s Field Guide and the Room of Requirement.
